East View Hotel, my home in Bacolod

Posted by on Mar 9, 2012 in Philippines, Travels | 4 comments

I was supposed to stay at my friend’s house in Bacolod but a few days before my trip, I figured that they’ll be crowded and I don’t want to be a bother to them. So at the least minute, I googled for a boutique hotel in Bacolod and found East View Hotel. They claim they’re a boutique hotel although I think they’re an ordinary hotel since it’s not very posh. I still like the room I got though. For P1,400 a night with free breakfast (which I never used), it ain’t bad at all.

my queen-size bed

there's a small table which I used for my laptop. the closet has a safe

cable tv, mini fridge, table

i wasn't keen on the bathroom which smelled like pee

The hotel only provides towels, towelettes, soaps, and a horrid product which is a 3-in-1 shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. I had to buy toothpaste and shampoo. Good thing I brought a toothbrush with me.

Still, the bed was very cozy and I slept like a baby during my four nights in Bacolod. It’s also good that the hotel is close to my friend’s house so it’s convenient for them when picking me up.

Most likely I’ll stay here again but I’ll arm myself with all the toiletries I will need on my next Bacolod trip.

I wasn’t afraid of the height, I was more worried if the contraption will support my weight. Well it did and I was able to zipline at ZipCity during the Davao Food Appreciation Tour (DFAT) early this year. It only cost me P250 for the adrenaline rush.

S3X Tour Tres: Day 1

Posted by on Oct 13, 2011 in Features, Philippines, Travels | 4 comments

I was very fortunate to have been invited to this year’s S3X Tour (SOCCSKSARGEN Experience Tour). I’ve never been to the region but I heard wonderful things about it, especially Gen San, from Dabawenyo bloggers during my DFAT tour earlier this year.

I arrived a few days early so I can spend some time in Davao then Tara, Ria, Mica and I took a bus from Davao to GenSan. The ride was long but smooth. I enjoyed the scenery while my companions slept. Too bad it started to rain when we got to GenSan so commuting was a bit difficult. We agreed to meet up with Avel and company at KCC Mall before checking into our hotels. When we arrived, some Manila-based bloggers (Fitz, Rina, and Don) were at Coffee Dream, our designated meeting place and one of the sponsors of our tour.

My Summit Ridge Tagaytay Hotel Experience

Posted by on Apr 1, 2011 in Features, Philippines, Travels | 3 comments

After the feast we had at Robinsons Galleria Veranda, I and some fellow bloggers were shuttled to Summit Ridge Tagaytay. I’ve never been to the hotel but I went to the Promenade when it was new. There was only Starbucks and the grocery back then. When we arrived, I was amazed at how much the place has changed. The Promenade is full of restaurants now. The hotel is enormous and looked utilitarian from the outside. I was mistaken though.
